2024 Spring or Fall Baseball

Castle Shannon Youth Association offers baseball programs for youth ages 4 - 16 from the Castle Shannon Borough and the surrounding area.
Season Info:
Spring Baseball Season usually kicks off with practices starting late March to early April. Games usually start around mid April and run until the middle/end of June. Fall season will kickoff late August and run through the end of October.
8U/10/12U traditionally play in the CV/KO league, while our T-Ball remains primarily in-house with some games scheduled against Dormont and Castle Shannon.
Pony League typically plays in the South Hills league and follows the same April-June timeline as our little league.
Colt League picks up late May early June after the High School season wraps up. Our Colt team plays in the CVBA.
2024 Baseball Divisions (all players ages are determined based on their age as of 4/30/25)
**Example: If a player turns 9 on May 1st, 2025, they are considered a 8 year old for the Fall Season.
Tball ages 6 and below
8u ages 7/8
10u ages 9/10
12u ages 11/12
Pony ages 13/14
Colt ages 15-17 (No Colt baseball during the fall)
KO/KOA
In agreement with DABA(Dormont) and GT(Green Tree) and in line with past practice please note that on some occasions, due to low registration numbers or lack of coach volunteers, teams may be formed jointly between boroughs and play as a KOA team. In these instances players from CS may be assigned to teams playing out of Dormont or GT and vice versa, we may have some of their players come to us.
Please know, it is CSYA's first priority to keep all of our players here in CS and every effort will be made to have players play in the community in which they live.

CASTLE SHANNON / KO FASTPITCH
**All ages are as of 8/31/24
8u coach pitch softball
10U - 9-10 year old Fast Pitch program
12U - 11-12 year old Fast Pitch program.
15U - 13-15 year old Fast Pitch program.
**All divisions are determined by the player's birthday. Depending on birth month it may seem like your player is placed a year older or younger than where they should be. That is not the case. This may cause some confusion due to a players actual age at the start of the season, but rest assured your player will be properly placed according to these guidelines which are applied to softball leagues nationally.
KOA
In agreement with DABA(Dormont) and GT(Green Tree) and in line with past practice, please note that our 10U, 12U, and 15U Fastpitch softball teams may collectively play under the KOA banner.
In these instances players from CSYA may be assigned to teams playing out of Dormont or GT and vice versa, we may have some of their players come to us. For the past several seasons we have used this model to help ensure that youth softball players across the district have a team to play on. The goal always being to keep the kids playing. Please know it is CSYA's first priority to keep all of our players here in CS and every effort will be made to have players play in the community in which they live.
